Fifth consecutive win for Seoul
Defending K-League Classic champions FC Seoul continued to peak at the right time ahead of this month’s AFC Champions League quarter-final first leg against Al Ahli from Saudi Arabia after recording a 2-1 win over Suwon Bluewings on Saturday.
A header from Brazilian defender Adilson opened the scoring at Seoul World Cup Stadium after 30 minutes before Kim Jin-kyu added a second for the home side six minutes before the hour mark.
And despite Cho Ji-hoon pulling a goal back for Suwon with 10 minutes remaining, FC Seoul held on to record a fifth consecutive K-League Classic win and sixth overall in all competitions to move up to third place in the domestic standings.
FC Seoul are now just seven points adrift of league leaders Pohang Steelers, who hold a one point advantage over 2012 AFC Champions League winners Ulsan Hyundai.
And FC Seoul will hope to maintain their current run of form for the visit of 2012 AFC Champions League finalists Al Ahli, who make the trip to Seoul World Cup Stadium on August 21 for the first leg of their quarter-final tie.
