Manchester United Consider Uruguay U20 Player
Guillermo Varela has returned to Uruguay following a two-week trial spell with Manchester United. The 20-year-old full-back, who is yet to break into the Club Atletico Penarol first team, was well received by the club but gave no indication if he would be returning any time soon.
"It was a surprise to get the chance to test with Manchester United. I'm glad and happy, and grateful to Penarol who allowed me to travel.
"I was treated so well and Cicharito [Javier Hernandez] helped me a lot. The work outs were short but very demanding."
A highly-rated defender, Varela is expected to shine for Uruguay in the upcoming World U20 Championships.
Upon his return home, he told Tirando Paredes: "I have trained with the first-team," Varela, who departed England late last week.
"I am very happy and I was received very well.
