Uzbekistan kept pressure on DPR Korea

White Wolves gained 5 consecutive victory under head of Samvel Babayan.

Uzbekistan national team kept the pressure on DPR Korea at Grand Hamad stadium with a dominant 3-1 win over Yemen.

Yemen came to the match at the Grand Hamad Stadium last week’s heroic 1-0 victory over the Philippines. But Uzbekistan began match very well and scored in the 7th minute. Azizbek Haydarov opened the scoring form the edge of the area after being set up by skipper Odil Akhmedov’s cross from the left.

A swift counterattack gave second goal to Uzbekistan. Server Djeparov firing the ball past Yemen keeper Mohammed Ayash, with Akhmedov once again providing the assist.
Akhmedov completed his hat-trick of assists in the 50th minute, delivered an inch-perfect cross for Stanislav Andreev to head home on the charge.

Yemen scored with a goal of 17-year striker Ahmed Al Sarori. He latched onto Ala Al Sasi’s pass before cooly slotting the ball past Uzbek keeper Aleksandr Lobanov two minutes into second-half stoppage time.

Uzbekistan’s victory took their points tally to 15, one less than DPR Korea but with Samvel Babayan’s side having played a game less than the two-time FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

White Wolves will face Philippines and Bahrain at home on March in the last 2 games in the group stage.
