White Wolves edged Azkals

Uzbekistan national team shocked Philippines in Bocaue with the result 5-1 in the 4th round of Asian Cup and World Cup joint qualifying stage.

Uzbekistan proved their billing as the favorites early on, as they pulled off a goal just 46 seconds into the match. Team Captain Server Djeparov found Odil Akhmedov on top of the box, who pierced through the defense and Azkals keeper, Neil Etheridge, with the breakthrough goal. Gaining an early edge, Uzbekistan continued with their pressing game that tested the Philippine defense, which momentarily held its ground.

Rashidov extended Uzbekistans lead with a curling shot on 14 minutes, before Sergeev having been found by Anzur Ismailov registered his first of the night two minutes before the break.

Javier Patino then missed a glorious chance to pull one back for the hosts, only to see Sergeev notch his second and Uzbekistans fourth with a firm header on 65 minutes.

Stephan Schrock did manage to score for the Philippines moments later, but Rashidov was on hand to complete the scoring with his second of the game with ten minutes of the fixture remaining.

Uzbekistan reached big victory. White Wolves will next face Bahrain on October 8 in Manama.
